Criminal Events

The Criminal Events category comprises events that constitute actual crimes as well as events that are antithetical to the professional standards of conduct practiced by the staff, employees, and healthcare providers in Partners facilities. By the National Quality Forum’s standards they are “of concern to the public, clearly identifiable, and serious.”

Partners hospitals have had no occurrences of these events in 2008:

  • Any instance of care ordered by or provided by someone impersonating a physician, nurse, pharmacist or other licensed healthcare provider
  • Abduction of a patient of any age
  • Sexual assault on a patient within or on the grounds of the healthcare facility
  • Death or significant injury of a patient or staff member resulting form a physical assault that occurs within or on the grounds of a healthcare facility
