Report Card:

Efficiency and Cost Control

Like just about everyone these days, Partners HealthCare caregivers are concerned with health care costs. We are committed to doing our part to avoid waste and unnecessary costs for our patients and for the nation’s health care system. Our goal is to manage the high costs associated with brand-name medications when compared to similar generic drugs. We work to lower the cost of care, helping patients save an average range of $15 to $30 for each prescription.

In addition to saving money by prescribing generic drugs when appropriate, we work to make sure we are providing the right care at the right time. Another example of how we use resources wisely is our new guideline for use of an advanced imaging technology that takes pictures inside the body to help diagnose disease. To read more about how we are using this technology more efficiently for patients with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, click here.
