Partners HealthCare is a national leader in implementing technologies that make hospitals and physician practices safer, more efficient, and more connected. As of June, 2011, we have achieved optimal levels of adoption and performance on several of these measures, including use of Computerized Provider Order Entry (CPOE) and safe medication administration in inpatient facilities, and implementation of Electronic Health Records (EHR) by our primary and specialty care physicians in ambulatory settings.

We will continue to display the metrics but no new data will be added. This doesn't mean that our work is done, however, we continue to monitor our progress, share best practices, and evaluate advances in the technology to maintain implementation in all our hospitals.

Quality Measures for Clinical Conditions

Scientific studies have shown that patients with certain conditions benefit from specific tests, treatments, and medications, many of which need to be delivered in a timely way to get optimal benefit. We know that the health care industry can be slow to adopt these proven interventions. Clinical experts at Partners HealthCare work together to review recommended guidelines and standardize their best practices to ensure that all patients in our system - whether in the hospital or the physician's office - get the care that has been shown to be of benefit as soon as possible.

Efficiency

Everyone wants efficient care and just about everyone these days is concerned with health care costs. Partners HealthCare caregivers are committed to doing their part to avoid waste and unnecessary costs for their patients and for the system as a whole. Our goal is to manage the high costs associated with brand-name medications when compared to similar generic drugs. We work to lower the cost of care, helping patients save an average range of $15 to $30 for each prescription.
